Voice of the Enemy
December 8, 2008
Every once in a while I’ll hear about how people just want The Homosexuals to be quiet and remember our place. It’s a regular tactic to minimize the necessity of LGBT struggles for equality. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (R) said last month that we haven’t been physically assaulted enough to deserve civil rights.
Or how about last month when comedian-who-somehow-has-a-show-on-CNN D.L. Hughley (who says he isn’t “particularly homophobic”, but doesn’t “condone the gay lifestyle.”) told Dan Savage that we haven’t marched long enough to deserve civil rights.
Or remember back in March when Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern (R) had that awesome youtube video out talking about how horrible The Gays are, and how we’re worse than terrorists and Islam?
Ah, memories. Like the corners of my mind.
Well it gets better. Rep. Kern’s husband, “Pastor” Steve Kern of Olivet Baptist Church in Oklahoma City is an adviser of sorts for Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett (R) in an effort to pack the city library board with homophobic members so they can remove gay and lesbian books from the city’s libraries. (Hey, you gotta start somewhere!)
The fellas over at Gossip Boy decided to do some investigative digging with the “Pastor”. Here’s a partial transcript of the phone conversation:
Gossip Boy: Blair, I am familiar with him personally, is a terrific choice. The man will stand his ground and will certainly help keep the faggots in line. He’s a pretty big boy. Ha ha.
Steve Kern: Ha ha. Very true. Paul won’t take a lick of nonsense from the homos. He’s been such a blessing to Sally and I. Always supportive and always there for us. Even before this mess with the them in March.
GB: Well good for him. He’s a real man of God and his service to everyone has not gone unnoticed. We need all the help we can get to make sure the perverts keep their nasty lifestyle out of our city libraries and away from our children. The sickness is spreading into everything.
SK: We have to get rid of that and start curing those sinners. It’s past time that this nation stopped placating sin and start putting them in education programs. Courts can force drug offenders into treatment centers and violent people into anger management. There’s no reason our courts can’t do that with homos.
Sometimes it’s important to be reminded of the mindset of your enemy. They want us put in re-education camps, folks. At best. Never forget that this is what we’re fighting.
